High-Protein Frozen Greek Yogurt Bites
When we eat snacks, we want them to keep us satisfied and fueled up. Choosing high-protein snacks is one way to do that.
That’s why we chose to use Greek yogurt for this yummy snack recipe. “Greek yogurt typically contains the most protein [of all yogurt types], with some brands offering up to 25 grams of protein per serving” (Eating Well). This makes it the perfect base for a high-protein snack.
To this high-protein yogurt, we add several other protein ingredients: peanut butter and protein powder.
Sugar-Free Frozen Greek Yogurt Bites
To make this homemade snack healthy, we also turn to a natural sweetener instead of refined sugar. A dollop of honey is the perfect solution!
And the result is refined-sugar-free frozen Greek yogurt bites.
NOTE: To ensure the best nutritional outcome from these frozen Greek yogurt bites, you should select an unflavored, unsweetened Greek yogurt. This should eliminate the chance of any added sugars.
Peanut Butter Frozen Yogurt Bites with Homemade Dark Chocolate Coating
We go the extra mile with this recipe to make a from-scratch chocolate coating. This ensures that no refined sugar is in this recipe at all.
It also means that we get the added benefit of coconut oil. And raw cacao powder. And raw honey.
So, yes, this from-scratch coating is pretty important to us.
If you have tried a few recipes, you might recognize this coating recipe from Chocolate Covered Raspberry Bites (with Chia Seeds) and Frozen Peanut Butter Banana Bites (Protein, No Sugar). It’s obviously a favorite in our home.

Tips and Tricks
- If the consistency of your chocolate coating is a bit thinner than you would like, allow it to thicken in the refrigerator for a few minutes. You can also try adding a teaspoon more of cacao powder or (if you want to cheat a little) stir in some bits of a dark chocolate bar.
- To garnish these lovely treats, you will need to act fast! The chocolate coating sets up quickly. Coat each bite and immediately garnish it with your desired topping.
- If you don’t want to use protein powder, you can omit it from the recipe without an issue.
Recipe Variations to Try
- Garnish these easy frozen Greek yogurt bites with finely chopped peanuts, flaky sea salt, or bits of dark chocolate.
- If you don’t want to create your own chocolate coating, melt one cup of dark chocolate with two tablespoons of coconut oil or butter and use it as the coating.
- For a bit more protein, stir in protein powder to the chocolate coating itself.
Tools for This Recipe
To make this recipe for chocolate-covered peanut butter frozen yogurt bites, you will need these tools:
- a medium-sized saucepan
- a mixing bowl
- a cookie sheet
- a reusable silicone baking mat (parchment paper doesn’t work the best for this recipe)
- a stand mixer with a whisk attachment

Ingredients for Easy Frozen Yogurt Bites
Peanut Butter Filling
- 1 cup plain, unsweetened Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cup smooth peanut butter
- 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
- 2 Tbsp. raw honey
- 3 Tbsp. unsweetened, unflavored protein powder
From-Scratch Chocolate Coating
- 1/4 cup cold-pressed virgin coconut oil
- 1/4 cup raw honey
- 1/4 cup raw cacao powder (non-alkalized)
- 1/2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
- 1/8 tsp. Himalayan pink salt
How to Make Chocolate Covered Peanut Butter Frozen Yogurt Bites
- Line a cookie sheet with a reusable silicone baking mat. Set aside.
- In the bowl of stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment, whip the Greek yogurt, peanut butter, vanilla, honey, and protein powder until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
- Drop the peanut butter mixture by tablespoonful onto the reusable silicone baking mat. Place the cookie sheet in the freezer for at least 40 minutes.
- In the meantime, make the chocolate coating. Warm the coconut oil, raw honey, and Himalayan pink salt in a medium-sized saucepan until the coconut oil and honey are in liquid form and are combining. Remove from the heat.
- Add the cacao powder and vanilla extract and stir well, until no pockets of cacao powder remain. Let cool to lukewarm.
- Remove the cookie sheet from the freezer. One by one, dip the peanut butter yogurt disks into the chocolate coating, then return them to the silicone baking mat to dry. (This should be a pretty quick process. The cold of the peanut butter yogurt disks should make the chocolate coating harden rather quickly–almost instantly, in fact.)
- Return the cookie sheet to the freezer for at least 15 minutes.
- Remove the chocolate covered peanut butter frozen yogurt bites from the baking mat and store in an airtight glass container or Ziplock bag.

Important Note If Feeding These to a Young Child
Because of the risk of choking, always break (or cut) these frozen yogurt bites into small, child-sized pieces before serving them to a young child. Also, allow them to thaw slightly so that they are easier for the child’s palette and teeth.
Storage Instructions
Store these chocolate covered peanut butter frozen yogurt bites in an airtight Ziplock bag or an airtight glass container in the freezer for up to 3 months.
Can you store frozen yogurt bites in the refrigerator?
You should never store frozen yogurt bites in the refrigerator, because the chocolate coating will disintegrate as the yogurt bite thaws and the texture will change drastically. Always keep them in the freezer.
